This event is also vital to HSU's operations.  Every dollar raised helps us in our efforts to advocate for and address the needs of NYC's homeless populations and our members work to end homelessness.  We have successfully advocated for the passage of key legislation that will allow homeless New Yorkers and others at risk of homelessness to qualify for City FHEPS vouchers providing a critical pathway out of shelter while ensuring that community members that have fallen behind on rent will have the ability to afford to remain in their homes. This will take pressure of the shelter system and help pull our community out of crisis response mode so we can normalize our operations. We accomplished all of this while securing key wins to support the financial viability for our membership including an increase to the fringe rate for DHS contracts as we continue to work closely with government partners to ensure timely contract registration and payment.
