Keona has been working in the social service field for over 15 years. Working with various high need populations, she has professional experience with individuals with developmental disabilities, and she previously worked at a residential facility for adolescents who have experienced complex developmental trauma with varying degrees of learning disabilities and emotional disturbance. During her tenure at BronxWorks, she has worked in the Positive Living Department with individuals and families living with HIV/AIDS, as a Housing Specialist with the Homeless Outreach Team, aiding the chronic street homeless population in obtaining permanent stable housing, and at the Jill Chaifetz Transfer High School aiding over-age and under-credited youth successfully complete high school diploma. While working full-time with BronxWorks, she attended the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College, graduating in August of 2012 with a focus in clinical practice with individuals and families and completed a certification in Focusing-Oriented Relational Psychotherapy in May 2016. In her previous role at Montefiore Medical Center, Keona served as a Project Manager overseeing the Housing At-Risk Program, assisting Montefiore patients with chronic medical conditions who are experiencing housing instability to resolve any issues impacting their health and wellbeing. Keona is currently the Assistant Vice President of Programs at Breaking Ground overseeing a portfolio of transitional housing in Brooklyn and Manhattan.
